At the beginning of February my Zilla monster got quite sick. He started with a regular cold. That turned into a sinus cold, then sinus infection, then ear infection. The ear infection ruptured and he ended up with a viral infection that resulted in a rash all over his torso! He was defeated, the poor lil monster. He got well and was alright for a week and a bit and that is when things got REALLY bad. He became quite lethargic and cranky. We noticed sores in his mouth which we thought were canker sores. It turned out that he had a form of Hand Foot and Mouth disease and he had a total of 20 sores in his mouth!!! Nightmare. He also had 2 molars coming in AND 2 wiggly teeth... but the worst part - he had sores under his gums in his molars and where his wiggly teeth were too! Such a horrible, horrible experience for my creature! Lots of popsicles, ice cream, pain meds and SO MANY cuddles later, he finally got better!
He got an extra week of Spring Break due to the contagiousness of the illness we weren't taking any risks sending him back to school! So needless to say, I did not do much in the way of yarn - to avoid contaminating anything with his ickies!
Onto Spring Break!
On March 16th we headed to Gramma's house to visit with my sister, niece, brother-in-law, Poppa and other family. The drive there is always very cool - and slightly scary haha it's a 2.5 hour drive through mountain passes and alongside some pretty scary bluffs! Some of the roads are pretty sketchy but the views are incredible!
This picture I hiked a lil ways up the road on foot to get haha I had my husband park at the bottom of the hill because there was a space for him to pull off into and park and then I walked about 5-10 minutes up the road to the corner of the bluffs in order to get this amazing picture of this incredible valley!
We went to the park with the kids - well what was left of the park from when we grew up haha which was basically a few swings, a monkey bars type contraption and then a metal horse that could probably be used as a castle battering ram if ever needed!! Gramma made an awesome turkey dinner for the family and then we roasted marshmallows before heading to bed! The stars out there are like nothing else. One day I will have a camera that can capture the intensity of how amazing the star gazing is.
The next morning we went on a 2 hour trek out into "Old Burton". When Gramma was a kid, BC Hydro flooded her home town of Burton and now when the lake is low, you can walk for miles and find foundations of old houses and buildings that once stood there. The kids looked for "treasures" and fresh water clam shells! It's always really neat wandering around and seeing what you can find. The best part is that the kids can run, forever! Never in danger and always in sight and BE FREE!!! All that clean dirt and clean air... it's so good for their hearts and souls!
After Aunty, Uncle and Ayrielle left to go back to their home in Dawson Creek the boys got a couple days to themselves with Gramma. They helped her transplant some aloe vera plants, bake cookies and they got to go and visit the neighbors farm animals, including baby lambs, goats, roosters and chickens! They had an amazing Spring Break at Grammas!
Me and my husband... the first day, we did our taxes- blah! haha! The next 2 days I basically laid on the floor and watched TV shows... the rest of the time I tried to busy myself cause it was just WEIRD that my creatures weren't here! hahaha
Since we picked em up and they're now back home, things have gotten back into the groove! We all can't wait for Zilla to go back to school on Monday and to get back into a proper schedule! I have tons of design ideas that I'll be working on!!!
Tell me about YOUR spring break!!?? What did you do or what are you going to do for your spring break?!
