Attaching As You Go!

One of the most handy things I have learned in the last year is how to attach limbs and pieces as I work up my main body parts! It's been a game changer for me with my ami's because -- as most people do -- I get so annoyed with having to sew pieces on! I can work pieces up before I create the piece that it is attached too, then I can just single crochet through alllllll of the pieces and there's no hassle with sewing things on afterwards!

To demonstrate this handy trick, I worked up a very simple photo tutorial. You'll only have to look at it a couple times and work it thru a couple times to get it and love it and never go back to sewing things together ever again! So here we go.... check this out!

Insert your hook thru both sides of the piece that you are attaching and the st of the piece that you are working up (1), pull the yarn through all of those sts (2) and finish your single crochet (3). Repeat all 3 steps until the piece is completely attached.

You can see once it's complete, all the sts are worked thru and you will have no gaps! You just carry on crocheting around! You can attach as many pieces as you need or want. Your pieces will never come out and it looks so clean and pretty!! Go on and give a shot! I use this technique ALL the time now!! I am even updating all my old patterns with this handy trick!

You just became my husband's favorite person. He always gets the job of sewing the arms and legs on because I can never get them even no matter what I do this will definitely be a game changer in my house. :-)

HAHA! That's awesome!! I felt like I spent so much more time sewing on limbs than I did actually working up the pieces for so long, this technique is definitely a stress relief! :D I'm glad you'll be able to benefit from it and your husband as well lol!
